Intensive Care Unit

Critical care professionals collaborate and plan for the holistic care of patients with life threatening illness or injuries.

The critical care team combines compassion, knowledge, skill, judgement, and advanced technology to support our patients and their families.

Our facilities manage about 5,800 critical care patients a year at Trident Medical Center and Summerville Medical Center.

Our services include Medical/Surgical Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Open Heart Recovery, Close Observation, and Telemetry. More than half of the staff members in our Intensive Care units are Nationally Certified.

Involving families in the care of the critical care patient, holding multidisciplinary family conferences, open visitation policies, and open communication are an important part of caring for our patients.
